Trail Tips
Water in this section can be a little scarce. Please make sure you take this into account when traveling this section.
Most of this hike is near ridgeline and when you cross Mt. Abraham, please protect the alpine vegetation by staying on trail, and on path. Do NOT let your dogs off-leash in this area.
In between Glen Ellen and Theron Dean shelters is the "Starks Nest" which is the Ski Warming Hut for the Mad River Glen ski area. This warming hut is open to hikers depending upon the respect it receives during its use. This is subject to change at anytime so please rely on the shelter system for certainty.
Camping off trail is ok until you get to Glen Ellen shelter. After that the trail begins to run onto private land.
The trailhead at Lincoln Gap is heavily used during the hiking season so if transportation out of Lincoln Gap is needed, you will probably not have to large of an issue finding it.
From Skyline Lodge north to Cooley Glen you will be traversing the Breadloaf Wilderness. The trail will become a little more challenging due to minimal brushing and blazing.

There are three town choices for the Lincoln Gap area. Warren, Lincoln & Bristol.
