Map 7 - Johnson to Canada

Trail tips:

It's approximately 40 miles from Johnson to Canada. Johnson really should be your last major town stop before finish the trail. However, if you have forgotten something small, there are a few options along the way. In addition, you're going to need to find transportation back from North Troy or possibly a place to stay the night at the border. Listed below are helpful tips for the last 40 miles.

Vt. 118 Crossing:

  • 4.8 Miles to the east is the town of Eden. There is a general store and a post office located there

Vt 58 - Hazen's Notch

  • 5.5 miles west is Montgomery Center. However, due to the limited traffic on this mountain road, we recommend you continue north to Rt 242 near jay mountain to get a ride to Montgomery Center
  • 5.5 Miles East is Lowell where a small store and post office exist

Vt. 242 Crossing:

Montgomery Center

  • United States Post Office - 98 Main St - M-F 8-4:30 and Sat 8-11:30
  • Sylvesters Market - Groceries and Gas
  • Phineas Swan B&B - 802.326.4306 - 119 to 159 dollars - Possible rides to and from trail
  • Trout River Traders - 802.326.3058 - Excellent home made sandwiches, soups, soda fountain, and espresso bar
  • English Rose Inn - 802.326.3232 - 2.3 miles west of trail - $75 and up, includes breakfast - Fine dining restaurant 16.95 and up by reservation
  • The Belfry Restaurant - 802.326.4400 - 4 miles west of LT - http://thebelfryrestaurant.com - pub style food, casual atmosphere
