Shelter Guide

This guide is being provided to help LT hikers decide where they might want to stop for the night. Some shelters are better than others for various reasons. All shelters are maintained by the GMC and the section clubs. Some shelters may have a caretaker assigned to the area during busy summer months, and some shelters are designated as fee sites.

We encourage all of those who stay in a shelter designated as a "fee" site, to send a payment into the GMC headquarters whether a caretaker came around or not. These fees help pay for maintaining the shelter and privy systems along the trail.

The shelter list below is arranged going Northbound (NOBO).

At the end of each shelter description, you will have the ability to make your own personal comments regarding the shelter. Please utilize the commenting system to help us keep the shelter descriptions accurate with up to date information. If you have photos to submit, please send them to trailangel - at - longtrailhiking - dot - info
