2009 Shelter Updates

  1. Montclair Glen - Renovations expected to be completed by Memorial Day
  2. Jay Camp - Shelter is still open as it has a roof, work to continue and be completed this summer
  3. Watson Camp - Closed
  4. Lost Pond - Rebuid this year
  5. Greenwall, Governor Clement, Tucker Johnson - Roof repiars during 2009 -  Expect to see this work around July time frame, be prepared for alternate shelter

The Green Mountain Club will have its 100th birthday on March 11, 2010

Preparations for the Club's Centennial Celebration are well underway. Here is a sneak peak at some of the key dates for your 2010 calendar:

Thursday, March 11, 2010: Come celebrate the GMC's actual birthday at the Doubletree Inn in South Burlington. Festivities will include slideshow presentations, a cash bar, snacks and of course a birthday cake. It is rumored that James P. Taylor may make a special appearance. Suggested donation: $10. Friday, May 7, 2010: A fundraising dinner at Trapp Family Lodge, featuring a special guest.

Saturday, May 22, 2010: Help us reflect upon a hundred years of memories and accomplishments, join friends new and old, and eat more birthday cake at GMC's 100th annual meeting at our headquarters in Waterbury Center.

Fee Shelters

The following is a list of shelters that require overnight fees: Fees are $5.00 per night. If a caretaker doesn't show up, please send your fees into the Green Mountain Club. The fees help to maintain the shelters, privvies and caretakers salaries during the hiking season.
