The Story Spring Shelter is a frame lean-to built by the US Forest service in 1963. It has space for 8 people and a few non platform tenting sites. There is a spring that crosses the trail about a 100 feet north that serves as the water source. Back south on the trail, there is a Beaver Pond that provides nice ambient sounds when going to sleep at night. The occasional moose frequents the pond to feed, usually in the early AM or late evening hours.
As with all shelters and camps on the Long Trail, please practice Leave No Trace principles and obey all rules posted in the cabins or shelters.
